Job Summary:
The Senior Developer (Equity Markets) plays a critical role in designing, building, and supporting advanced research tools and models that enable the Public Equities investment team. As part of the Business Technology Operations group, this role partners closely with the Systematic Equity Strategies team to translate complex investment and capital markets requirements into high-quality, scalable software solutions. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact at the intersection of finance and technology while mentoring peers and influencing technical direction.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Public Equities group to understand business needs and translate them into clear technical requirements.
Design, develop, and deploy high-quality software solutions using Python, .NET, and other relevant technologies.
Lead the design and implementation of key features and components for both existing and new software systems.
Conduct code reviews, testing, and quality assurance activities to ensure solutions meet high standards of performance, reliability, and maintainability.
Coordinate solution design with other technology teams, including Operations, Data, and Infrastructure.
Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to other developers and team members.
Success Measures:
Demonstrate excellence across the full software development lifecycle by applying best practices in algorithms, data structures, system design, and solution architecture.
Establish credibility as a trusted technical expert for the Systematic Equity Strategies team by effectively transforming business requirements into technology solutions.
Understand and navigate complex enterprise technology architectures and collaborate with Business Technology stakeholders to deliver diverse initiatives successfully.
Take ownership of team deliverables while providing mentorship and leadership to support overall team success.
Required Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 8 years of software development experience with strong knowledge of software design principles, system design, algorithms, and data structures.
Extensive, hands-on experience with Python.
Experience with database design and SQL.
Strong understanding of systematic investment strategies and equity research practices.
Experience working in an Agile development environment.
Nice-to-Have Experience:
CFA designation, master’s degree, or other relevant advanced education.
Experience with additional programming languages such as Java or C#.NET.
Proven experience in the financial services industry, particularly fund management and capital markets, including knowledge of systematic investment practices, public market products, trade workflows, and investment research.
