The Role

They're looking for a Senior Data Platform Engineer to own and evolve their Azure Databricks estate. You'll be building frameworks, deploy infrastructure, optimise performance, and enable data teams to move fast.

This isn't just maintaining pipelines - you'll be shaping platform direction, making architectural decisions, and solving real infrastructure challenges at scale.

What they're looking for:

Essential:

Deep hands-on experience with Azure Databricks

Strong Python experience.

Experience deploying Databricks resources (Asset Bundles, workflows, clusters)

Understanding of Lakehouse architecture and data management

CI/CD and DevOps mindset

Self-starter who can work independently and figure things out

Nice to have:

Terraform or Infrastructure as Code

Unity Catalog implementation

Real-time streaming (Kafka, Event Hubs, Autoloader)

Power BI and dimensional modelling

MLOps experience

Background in regulated environments

The Package

Salary:

£70,000 - £75,000

Location:

Basingstoke office, 1 day per week on-site (mostly remote)

Environment:

Regulated insurance, so compliance and data quality matter

Culture:

Fast-paced, collaborative, engineering-focused

Tech stack:

Azure Databricks, Unity Catalog, Confluent Kafka, Delta Lake, Python/PySpark, Power BI, Azure DevOps

Why join?

Modern tech stack (no legacy mess to untangle)

Real ownership and influence over platform direction

Work on meaningful problems at scale

Supportive team environment

Regulated environment where good engineering actually matters
