Senior Data Engineer - AWS/Azure \& Databricks

Your new role
As a Senior Data Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering the organisation's AI and data strategy. Reporting to the data engineering leadership team, you'll design and build pipelines, frameworks, and processes that transform foundational data assets into high‑value, derived data products.
Engineering
Execute the data and AI product roadmap and contribute to strategic delivery.
Build high‑quality ETL/ELT and MLOps pipelines that support a single source of truth and reusable data products.
Write, maintain, and review clean, high‑quality source code.
Develop and support a high‑performing data engineering and machine‑learning operations platform.
Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities and best practices.
Partner with infrastructure teams to ensure seamless end‑to‑end delivery of data and AI services.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues across data pipelines and platforms.
Support BAU data products and platforms in line with agreed service levels.
Collaboration
Work within agile ways of working and contribute to sprint delivery.
Share knowledge across engineering and IT teams to promote reusable data assets.
Support governance and risk teams to ensure responsible data management.
Partner with a wide range of stakeholders including data engineers, ML engineers, data scientists, analysts, business partners, DevOps engineers, project managers, and testers.
Contribute to the broader Data \& Analytics Centre of Excellence and help foster a great team culture.
What you'll need to succeed
Experience working in large or complex organisations.
A degree in a technical or quantitative field, or equivalent experience.
5+ years of hands‑on data engineering or MLOps experience.
Strong SQL skills and proficiency in Python.
Experience with ETL/ELT, MLOps, dimensional modelling, feature engineering, and modern data architectures.
Exposure to AI‑related tooling, platforms, or concepts.
Experience with at least one major cloud provider.
Familiarity with modern data stack tools (e.g., dbt, Databricks, Airflow, cloud data warehouses).
Bonus: experience with software engineering or DevOps practices.
A problem‑solving mindset, curiosity, and comfort working in ambiguity.
A proactive, positive attitude.
