About the Role
The Regional Supply Chain Manager provides strong leadership across regional distribution functions and ensures alignment with national supply chain objectives. The role also focuses on maintaining consistent service performance and supporting Te Whatu Ora's strategic health outcomes, with travel around the region required to engage with stakeholders and oversee operational delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading regional distribution teams and managing service levels, stakeholder relationships, and integrated activities.
Driving regional alignment to the 2030 Strategy, Goals, and KPIs.
Overseeing all distribution activities within the Central Region.
Managing service performance, relationships, and integrated operations at all levels within the region.
Ensuring national and regional consistency, effective problem resolution, and delivery of value to customers across the supply chain.
Improving relationships and engagement with Regional Teams, hospital Group Director Operations and clinical staff.
About the Team/Service
The Procurement, Supply Chain and Health Technology (PSC\&HTM) team at Health New Zealand \| Te Whatu Ora are a national function with a vast and complex scope. They play a critical role in ensuring the availability, safety, and efficiency of clinical and non-clinical goods and services across the health system. Responsible for managing and influencing over $9 billion in annual spend, the team are central to delivering high-quality patient outcomes and standardising product usage across regions.
About you
You are a strategic and people‑focused leader with proven capability across supply chain, logistics, business, operations, or distribution management. A confident and articulate communicator, you excel at engaging high‑performing teams and fostering a strong culture of continuous improvement. You value diversity and understand its importance in creating inclusive, effective solutions, demonstrating cultural competence and genuine respect for tikanga Māori in your everyday practice.
You will also have:
A minimum of 10 years' experience in supply chain, including at least 3 years in a senior leadership role
Proven capability in logistics or manufacturing environments, particularly in the implementation and oversight of health \& safety systems
Strong strategic, planning, and prioritisation skills, with well‑developed financial management capability, including budgeting and cost control
Advanced analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills, with experience in the health sector considered advantageous
