About the Role
The primary purpose of this role is to be responsible for implementing and maintaining data governance frameworks that promote data integrity, security, and compliance across the FPIM Data Platform. By integrating data governance principles into everyday practices, the Senior Data Engineer will ensure FPIM data remains a reliable and valuable asset for decision-making and innovation across Te Whatu Ora Finance, Procurement \& Supply Chain functions.
About you
We are looking for a candidate with a strong technical foundation and proven Snowflake experience. You will bring both analytical and problem-solving skills, alongside excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Essential skills and experience:
Strong proficiency in SQL, dbt, and Snowflake architecture
Apply data modelling experience and ability to optimise query performance
Experience with scripting languages: Python, PowerShell and Bash
Skilled at translating / presenting data engineering concepts to senior internal stakeholders.
Provide technical leadership within the Data Engineering community
Design, implement and manage complex pipelines and infrastructure
Write SQL queries and optimize queries
Work with live data sets and real-time data processing
Understanding Cloud platforms and integration with Snowflake
Ensure data quality, integrity, and security throughout the data lifecycle, including implementing data governance frameworks, data quality checks, and compliance measures
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or related field.
Desired skills and experience:
Master's degree in Computer Science/Engineering
Certification in Data Engineering
