About the role

As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a Principal Developer to join our Auckland-based engineering team — a hands-on technical leader who thrives on mentoring others, solving complex problems, and driving architectural decisions that have real business impact.

This is a senior-level role where you’ll be a trusted voice in shaping the future of our products. You’ll work closely with your team, guiding best practices, reviewing technical designs, and lifting the capability of those around you.

We are passionate about developing software the right way. Our developers work with both old and new platforms alike, but we are extremely creative in using modern tools and technology to enhance our customers’ experience with our legacy products. Collaboration is a big part of how we operate. We are responsible for making decisions that will affect thousands of users.

What you’ll be doing

Leading by example — writing, reviewing, and improving clean, maintainable code

Collaborating with development teams across projects and team boundaries

Driving solution design and architectural decisions that balance long-term vision with short-term value

Mentoring engineers of all levels and fostering a culture of learning, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence

Staying ahead of tech trends, tools, and methodologies — and translating them into practical solutions

Championing best practices, including coding standards, code reviews, and agile methodologies

Facilitating technical discussions and helping build alignment on complex problems

What we’re looking for

8+ years of software development experience across a range of frameworks and languages

A strong technical background, ideally with exposure to cloud-based architecture and scalable systems

Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to break down complex issues into clear, actionable steps

A collaborative communicator who can engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Proven ability to lead, coach, and inspire engineering teams

Passion for staying current with evolving technologies and bringing fresh thinking to the table
