Full Stack Developer, Digital Services and Communications (2-Year Contract)
About this role
Join HeritageSG as a Full Stack Developer and build digital experiences that bring Singapore's cultural heritage to millions of visitors. You'll create innovative web applications for major festivals, museum exhibitions, and heritage initiatives that connect diverse audiences with compelling cultural stories.
Key Responsibilities:
A. Web Application Development
Design, develop, and deploy new web applications, websites, and microsites that enhance access to and engagement with heritage content.
Build user interfaces using modern frameworks (e.g. React, Vue) with a focus on performance, accessibility, and user experience, enabling diverse audiences to interact meaningfully with cultural stories.
Implement back-end services, APIs, and databases to power both business systems and public-facing applications that scale across festivals, museums, and digital platforms.
B. Maintenance \& Optimisation
Support and enhance existing web applications to ensure reliable, seamless digital experiences for both visitors and staff.
Conduct regular audits to identify areas for improvement (e.g. performance, security, accessibility, load times) so platforms remain inclusive and future-ready.
Optimise applications for cross-browser compatibility and responsive design, ensuring content is accessible across devices and audience segments.
C. Systems Integration \& Architecture
Develop and maintain RESTful/GraphQL APIs to enable smooth data and system integrations, supporting cross-museum initiatives and organisational workflows.
Ensure applications follow best practices in scalability, reliability, and security to protect user trust and sustain long-term growth.
Support cloud deployments, CI/CD pipelines, and version control (Git) to deliver efficient, maintainable solutions that can evolve with the sector’s needs.
D. Testing, Deployment \& Support
Write clean, well-documented, and testable code that reduces long-term maintenance costs and ensures platform reliability.
Perform unit, integration, and end-to-end testing to guarantee applications deliver consistent, high-quality experiences.
Monitor application performance and troubleshoot issues to minimise downtime for users engaging with heritage content.
Plan for lifecycle maintenance and upgrades so platforms remain sustainable, secure, and relevant to changing technologies and visitor expectations.
E. Collaboration \& Innovation
Work with UX/UI designers, curators, and business units to translate requirements into technical solutions that reflect both creative vision and user needs.
Partner with external vendors and technology providers on project delivery, ensuring high standards and sector-leading outcomes.
Explore emerging technologies and propose innovations to improve digital services, positioning HeritageSG as a leader in digital cultural engagement.
The Ideal Profile:
Diploma and/or degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
3–5 years of relevant experience in full stack web application development.
Proficiency in at least three front-end technologies (e.g., HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript or TypeScript, React or Vue).
Experience with back-end frameworks (Node.js, Express, Python/Django, or similar).
Strong knowledge of databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
Understanding of web security, responsive design, and accessibility standards.
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively.
Preferred
Experience with containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) or serverless architecture.
Knowledge of website optimisation tools (e.g., Lighthouse, Google PageSpeed).
Familiarity with data visualisation libraries (e.g., D3.js, Chart.js).
Interest in heritage, culture, and digital innovation.
