Job Title: Sr. Backend Developer (DevOps \& NodeJS)

About The Opportunity
We’re looking for a seasoned Backend Engineer who thrives at the intersection of backend development and DevOps.
This role is not for a generalist; our client specifically needs a backend expert with the confidence to design services, migrate to AWS, and build DevOps pipelines from the ground up.
You’ll be playing a critical role in transforming a legacy system into a modern AWS-based microservices platform, directly impacting one of the largest loan origination systems in the country.
What You’ll Do
Build scalable backend services in TypeScript \& Node.js.
Lead the design and deployment of AWS microservices to support enterprise-scale workloads.
Create, manage, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using Terraform.
Partner with architects, product teams, and frontend engineers to deliver end-to-end solutions.
Ensure system performance, security, and compliance in a regulated environment.
Act as a thought leader, bringing both backend depth and a DevOps-first mindset to the team.
What You Bring
10+ years of backend engineering experience.
Advanced TypeScript \& Node.js development skills (must be backend-focused).
Strong AWS expertise: migrations, deployments, and microservices.
Hands-on experience with Terraform and pipeline automation (CI/CD ownership).
A DevOps mindset: you don’t just code, you deploy, automate, and optimize.
Excellent communication: you can clearly explain technical solutions to peers and stakeholders.
Nice To Have
Exposure to Angular (for frontend alignment).
Experience with GraphQL APIs.
Familiarity with DynamoDB or other NoSQL databases.
Not a Fit If
You’re mainly a frontend developer without backend depth.
You’re purely a DevOps engineer without coding strength in Node.js/TypeScript.
