As we shape the long-term vision of our data engineering team, we are currently looking for support in our B2B subteam – a small but crucial team of currently two engineers working on high-impact topics like inventory, shops, earnings data products.

The position as Data Engineer (m\|w\|d) is advertised as full-time or part-time.
About your new role
You will be part of the B2B subteam – one of three subteams in our 11-person data engineering agile team.
In this role, you will be jointly responsible for developing and operating (data) products with a high level of internal quality \& data quality.
Through these products, you will indirectly help answer valuable analytical questions that drive key decisions and create real business impact.
Working closely across all three cross-functional subteams, each aligned with a key business domain, you will take end-to-end ownership of (data) products and help shape data into a strategic asset at idealo.
Additionally you are expected to closely collaborate with stakeholders like analysts and other data platform teams in the data unit
We believe in ownership: you’ll take responsibility across the entire software engineering workflow and act as an advocate for (data) product quality – both within and beyond your immediate team. You bring a collaborative mindset, care about how we work together, and enjoy helping others grow while growing yourself.
Skills \& Requirements
You bring at least 3-4 years of hands-on experience in data engineering or a related field – and are ready to grow into more ownership, technical maturity, and collaborative responsibility.
You have a strong foundation in data structures and algorithms.
You bring ideas from all areas of internal quality standards \& best practices, including distributed computing, large-scale system design, security, networking and data storage.
Solid programming skills in languages such as Python, Java or similar.
Experience working with relational and non-relational databases, data warehouses, and data lakes in production environments - supporting both transactional and analytical workloads at scale.
Experience with distributed data processing frameworks (e.g., Apache Spark) to develop batch data pipelines (and ideally streaming)
You have in-depth knowledge of cloud providers AWS, GCP, or Azure as well as with IAC frameworks (e.g., Terraform, AWS CDK and AWS CloudFormation).
ETL/ELT tools Experience with tools such as Airbyte or dbt.
