About the role
You will have deep experience in leading multi-disciplinary technical teams and maintaining robust relationships with the various stakeholders within our asset management and GIS ecosystems. A proven ability to appreciate and interpret complex challenges, then bringing together teams on the journey of developing and implementing solutions, will be key to your success.
As a key driver of Council’s asset management and GIS maturity journey, the Asset Manager will bring a strong track record and genuine passion for delivering customer-focused services and strategic initiatives. The role provides the opportunity for a dynamic leader in asset management—someone who consistently makes clear, timely, and well-informed decisions that support long-term community outcomes.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
Enhance the delivery of the asset management lifecycle by leading and directing a team of technical and specialist asset management officers in integrating and developing asset management principles and practices across council, in support of long term sustainable delivery of services to the community
Management of assets through development of contemporary frameworks (policy, procedure, process), practices and technologies in accordance with the principles of ISO 55000 series
Lead and coordinate the implementation of an enterprise GIS solution across the organisation.
Provide leadership, direction and performance management of the asset management and spatial and asset information management teams, including mentoring and monitoring individual and team performance to ensure staff are continuously developing and team performance is measured and improving
Lead and coordinate the development of three-year and 10-year capital portfolio asset renewal programme to enable implementation of the 10 year capital investment programme
Lead and coordinate the capital asset renewal programme engineering reviews and annual updates to ensure appropriate prioritisation of assets is achieved.
Provide advice, write briefing papers, business cases and present master plans to officers, managers and council assemblies including committees, boards, panels, Councillors and the Chief Executive Officer, as required
About you
To be successful in this role you will have:
Belief in our values of safety and wellbeing, communication, collaboration, integrity, efficiency and leadership
Extensive experience in civil infrastructure asset management
Extensive practical knowledge in GIS and asset management enterprise technological solutions and applications
Deep experience leading technical teams and effectively managing technically complex work programmes
Relevant tertiary qualifications in civil engineering, asset management or construction management
Hold a current Queensland C Class driver’s licence
Ideally, you will hold, or have the ability to obtain, registration with the Board of Professional Engineers of Queensland
Post graduate qualifications in asset management is desired
