We are looking for a Frontend Developer (m/f/d) to join our small, high-quality team on a freelance basis, with the option to transition into a permanent role.
The role is designed as a fully remote position, complemented by quarterly in-person meetings across Europe. Locations are selected to be easy to reach for everyone involved (such as Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Denmark). English is mandatory; native-level German and/or Spanish is a big plus.
Your Responsibilities
Develop and maintain modern web frontends using HTML5 and SCSS, following best coding standards
Build clean, maintainable, and high-performance UI components
Optimize frontend performance (loading times, rendering, asset optimization)
Ensure accessibility (a11y) according to modern web standards
Work closely with our development team and graphic/design partners
Actively contribute ideas and propose technical solutions
Improve and automate development workflows (builds, testing, deployments)
Pay strong attention to details that elevate UX and overall look \& feel
Your Profile
Excellent knowledge of HTML5 and SCSS, with a strong focus on code quality, structure, and maintainability
Strong understanding of modern CSS, including Flexbox, Grid, custom properties, and responsive design
JavaScript: basic to solid knowledge of modern JavaScript (ES6+) for interactive UI behavior; experience with a JavaScript framework is a plus
Solid experience with version control, especially GitHub
Umbraco experience is a plus, but not required
Strong understanding of frontend performance optimization and web accessibility, with good knowledge of SEO best practices
Strong passion for UX, design quality, and pixel-perfect implementation, with high attention to detail and visual consistency
Familiarity with GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD automation tools is a plus
Basic experience with frontend testing (e.g. visual regression, component testing, end-to-end testing, or regular use of tools such as Lighthouse) is a plus
Solution-oriented mindset, with the ability to proactively suggest technical and UX improvements
Very good communication skills when collaborating with designers and developers
Self-driven, reliable, and comfortable working independently
Fluent English required
German and/or Spanish (native or fluent) is a strong plus
