Reporting to the Senior Director of Tax, the Indirect Tax Manager is a key member of a fast-paced, global tax team and works effectively both independently and collaboratively. This role serves as the primary indirect tax lead for the business, overseeing VAT/GST/HST and sales/use tax compliance and developing scalable processes as the company expands into new regions globally. The Indirect Tax Manager establishes practical policies and controls, partners cross-functionally to operationalize correct tax treatment, and strengthens refund recovery to improve cash outcomes and reduce risk.

About The Role: Salary Range

Annual cash compensation ranges from $97,500 to $143,000, plus a discretionary 12% company bonus. The final offer within this range will reflect the successful candidate’s skills and experience.

What you will do

Own global indirect tax compliance (VAT/GST/HST and sales/use tax), including registrations, filings, payments, and supporting documentation.

Maintain a global compliance calendar; coordinate data collection and return preparation across jurisdictions to ensure accurate, timely filings.

Prepare and maintain indirect tax working papers, reconciliations, schedules, and standardized templates to support consistent, audit-ready deliverables.

Reconcile indirect tax liability accounts, investigate variances, and support month-end/quarter-end reporting and accruals.

Partner with Finance, Legal, Procurement, Sales Operations, and IT to ensure correct indirect tax treatment in contracts, invoicing, billing, and customer/vendor documentation.

Support indirect tax requirements for new market launches and business changes, including operational readiness, documentation standards, and process design.

Manage external advisors and service providers, including scoping work, reviewing deliverables, and ensuring quality, accuracy, and timeliness.

Lead indirect tax audits and tax authority inquiries; coordinate responses, manage data requests, and maintain organized records and evidence.

Improve VAT/GST refund recovery by strengthening documentation, preparing claims, tracking submissions, and following through to resolution.

Research, analyze, and document indirect tax positions and prepare practical guidance for stakeholders.

Monitor global indirect tax developments and assess impacts to compliance, invoicing/documentation requirements, and internal processes.

Drive process improvement and automation to reduce manual effort and support scalable growth.

What we are looking for

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

CPA or equivalent professional designation

5–7 years of progressive experience with a strong focus on indirect tax in a multinational organization and/or public accounting/advisory environment.

Experience managing indirect tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions globally.

Strong knowledge of VAT/GST/HST and working familiarity of sales/use tax concepts.

Demonstrated experience improving compliance delivery models and implementing scalable processes.

Experience in a public company environment and/or software/SaaS industry is an asset.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to explain indirect tax requirements to non-tax partners and influence decisions across functions and regions.

Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Advanced proficiency with Excel and Microsoft tools; comfortable with ERP/finance systems, reconciliations, and large datasets.

Experience with billing/invoicing platforms and/or indirect tax determination tools is an asset.
