The Role
As a DevOps Engineer, you'll own automation, tooling, and infrastructure across on-premises systems, co-located data centers, and containerized environments. Your work will focus on reliability, observability, and performance in production systems that operate under real-world trading constraints.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with developers, traders, and quants to ensure the stability, performance, and availability of trading systems
Design, build, and maintain automation for workflows, deployments, and system operations
Develop tools to improve reliability, monitoring, and operational efficiency
Troubleshoot complex issues across applications, operating systems, and networks in live production environments
Deploy and manage applications using configuration management and infrastructure-as-code practices
Support containerized workloads and deployments across on-prem and co-located environments
Assist with database administration, monitoring, and performance tuning
Implement and refine logging, metrics, and alerting for rapid detection and response
Create and maintain documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures
Participate in on-call or rotation-based support during critical trading hours as needed
Requirements
Qualifications
Required
2+ years of full-time professional experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or a similar high-performance role
Strong troubleshooting skills across applications, operating systems, and networks in production environments
Proficiency with Linux and Windows systems
Solid scripting experience in one or more of the following: Python, Bash, PowerShell, Ruby (or similar)
Experience with containerization technologies and modern observability practices
Familiarity with structured data formats such as JSON, XML, and Parquet
Ability to manage shifting priorities and perform well under pressure
Strong communication skills and attention to documentation and process
Additional Requirements
Ability to work on-site in the Chicago office (remote is not available)
Willingness to relocate to Chicago (relocation assistance provided)
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when required
