We’re building the next-generation personal lines quoting platform and are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help design solutions, build, and operate AWS-native services that power roughly 80% of all direct channel quoting volume. You’ll work across TypeScript/Node.js and Java API's running on AWS Fargate and AWS Lambda, with DynamoDB and DocumentDB as the primary data stores. The ideal candidate is both technically strong and deeply collaborative, and has working knowledge of the insurance quoting lifecycle.

What you’ll do:

Design, implement, and operate scalable, secure services and APIs for the quoting platform using TypeScript/Node.js and Java on AWS (Fargate \& Lambda).

Build and maintain data models and access patterns in DynamoDB and DocumentDB to support high-performance quoting flows.

Implement and evolve GraphQL endpoints and integrations (experience helpful).

Participate in system architecture discussions, drive technical designs, and produce high-quality, documented code.

Collaborate closely with PO’s and engineers within QP, Distribution and Products to deliver end to end solutions for Distribution quoting applications

Mentor and coach engineers, contribute to code reviews, and raise engineering standards across the team.

Troubleshoot production issues, conduct incident response, and continuously improve reliability and observability.

Advocate for automation, CI/CD, testing, and secure development practices.

Qualifications* A minimum of five years of software engineering experience

A background in business operations and strategies, with a focus on business IT

A history of translating client requirements into technical designs

Agile engineering capabilities and a design-thinking mindset

Collaboration, adaptability, flexibility and the ability to manage time and prioritize work with a globally distributed development team

Strong oral and written communication skills - and a knack for explaining your decision-making process to non-engineers

A thorough grasp of IT concepts, business operations, design and development tools, system architecture and technical standards, shared software concepts and layered solutions and designs

An understanding of how modifications affect different parts of a system and an ability to explain your decision-making process to non-engineers

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical or business discipline, or equivalent experience

What will set you apart from others?

Experience building applications in AWS native technologies

Familiarity with Node.js, Java, Typescript, GraphQL, fargate containers and lambdas is beneficial

Knowledge of the quoting process for personal lines insurance
