Lightspeed is looking for a Vice President of Engineering to join our Product \& Technology team in Auckland. This is a rare opportunity to step into a VP-level role with a global organisation while remaining in New Zealand. You'll lead a growing team of around 100 engineers and play a pivotal role in shaping the technical direction and future of our flagship retail platform, used by merchants all over the world.
Our engineering team is on a mission to build the core components of Lightspeed Retail, with a focus on Point of Sale and Wholesale selling. As VP of Engineering, you'll not only drive technical excellence and scalable growth across APAC, but also have a material impact on the experience of merchants globally.
What you'll be doing:
Develop and execute the engineering strategy in alignment with company goals
Lead and mentor a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration
Oversee the entire product lifecycle from ideation to deployment, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products
Provide technical direction and guidance, and create a target state architecture for the team to drive toward
Partner with the Auckland Senior Leadership team to enhance office culture and morale to attract and retain top talent
Act as a spokesperson internally and externally across Auckland and globally
Identify and fix the largest issues across Technology, from prioritising work to removing key roadblocks for the team

Contributing as part of the wider team to achieve organisational objectives even if this means doing things that aren't strictly within the scope of your role
What you need to bring:
We're looking for a candidate who has experience with the following:
15+ years product development experience, with prior experience in a senior Engineering leadership role
A proven track record of managing complex product portfolios and delivering successful SaaS products for small-medium business customers
Demonstrated experience in building and leading high-performing engineering teams, with a focus on mentoring and developing talent
Deep expertise in software architecture, system design, and emerging technologies
Experience leading major technical initiatives such as addressing scalability challenges and driving architectural evolution
Strong business acumen with the ability to understand and drive key business metrics
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to work effectively across diverse teams and stakeholders
