Role Description
As a Software Developer III at Locus, you will be a senior individual contributor responsible for building and scaling critical systems. You will own complex problem areas, influence architectural decisions, and mentor engineers while delivering high-quality, production-grade solutions.
Responsibilities Design, build, and own scalable backend services and APIs* powering Locus products
Take ownership of end-to-end feature development, from design to production rollout
Drive architectural improvements to enhance performance, reliability, and maintainability
Proactively identify and reduce technical debt, improving long-term system health
Collaborate closely with Product, Frontend, QA, and DevOps teams to deliver robust solutions
Lead design discussions and contribute to system design and architectural decisions
Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, design feedback, and best practices
Contribute to improving engineering processes, coding standards, and development velocity
Ensure systems meet high standards of observability, fault tolerance, and scalability
On-Call Responsibilities Participate in a rotational on-call schedule* for production systems.
Lead incident resolution during high-severity outages with clear communication and ownership.
Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and drive long-term fixes to prevent recurrence.
Improve system reliability through proactive monitoring, alerting, and automation.
Education Qualification:B.Tech or equivalent with at least 5+ years of experienceRequirement: Strong proficiency in backend development using Node.js*.
Experience designing and building high-scale REST APIs and distributed systems.
Solid understanding of Data Structures, Algorithms, and system design.
Hands-on experience working in AWS cloud environments.
Strong debugging, performance optimization, and problem-solving skills.
Experience writing unit tests and integration tests.
Prior experience handling production systems at scale.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control, and agile development practices.
Ability to independently own complex problem statements and drive them to closure.
Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
