Your Day-to-day

Build and maintain data pipelines using Databricks and Azure tools

Transform raw data into structured, high-value assets for analytics

Collaborate with IT and Data \& Analytics teams to meet business data needs

Ensure data quality and governance practices are followed

Troubleshoot data load failures and optimise data availability

Deliver insights and visualisations to support strategic decisions

Support machine learning models and enrich data sources

Engage with stakeholders across the business, including senior leaders

Stay current with industry trends and bring new ideas to the table

Your Team

You’ll be part of Lotto NZ’s Data \& Analytics team, sitting within the Innovation \& Product division. Reporting to the Data Engineering Lead, you’ll collaborate closely with data scientists, analysts, IT, and senior leaders to deliver high-quality, accessible data that powers insights and decision-making across the business.

The team is focused on building a modern, cloud-based data platform using tools like Databricks and Azure. Together, you're transforming raw data into meaningful assets, supporting machine learning models, and enabling strategic initiatives. With exciting projects on the go—from enriching customer insights to optimising reporting pipelines—you’ll play a key role in helping Lotto NZ maximise the value of its data.

A Bit About You

As an experienced data engineer or cloud data superstar, you’ll be passionate about turning raw data into meaningful insights and proud of the impact your work makes. You will have:

Strong experience building and managing data pipelines in cloud platforms (ideally Azure and Databricks)

Advanced skills in SQL and Python, with a knack for solving complex data problems

A solid understanding of data warehousing, ETL processes, and relational databases

Experience working with structured and unstructured data, and making it accessible for a range of users

A keen eye for data quality and governance, and the ability to spot and fix issues proactively

Confidence presenting insights and working with senior stakeholders

A collaborative mindset and curiosity to explore new data sources and technologies

A tertiary qualification in computer science, data, or a related field
