ROLE SUMMARY:

We are seeking a visionary and strategic Director of Network Automation to lead the transformation of our global network into a programmable, self-healing, and highly resilient platform. This is a critical leadership role responsible for defining the enterprise-wide strategy and product roadmap for network automation.

You will own the vision for automating our entire network stack—including WAN, LAN, Data Center, Firewall, Load Balancer, and DDI systems—across our global, low-latency, financial markets infrastructure.

You will lead and manage a team comprising product owners, software developers, devops engineers, and automation architects to build a center of excellence that empowers our entire organization.

Your mission is to eliminate manual toil, enforce security and compliance through code, and dramatically accelerate service delivery, ensuring LSEG's network remains a competitive advantage.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

Strategic Leadership \& Product Vision:* Develop and own the multi-year product strategy and roadmap for the Network Automation platform, aligning with LSEG's business and technology objectives.

Champion an "automation-first" culture across the Network Products and Services organization with key stakeholders in Security, Cloud, and Application teams.

Team Building \& Organizational Leadership:* Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of product owners, devops engineers and software developers.

Manage the resourcing (devops and developers) to support the business needs for the development of network automation products.

Foster a collaborative and innovative environment, breaking down silos between network engineering, architecture, and software development.

Platform Architecture \& Governance:* Establish and govern the enterprise standards, frameworks, and best practices for network automation.

Oversee the architecture of a scalable, secure, and reusable automation platform using technologies such as Java/Spring, C#, Python, Terraform, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.

Drive the adoption of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and GitOps methodologies for the entire network estate.

Finalize technical decisions and ensure the automation platform meets the stringent requirements for reliability and security demanded by a financial markets infrastructure.

Execution \& Cross-Functional Partnership:* Oversee the design, development, and deployment of robust automation solutions for network provisioning, migrations, configuration management, compliance auditing, and self-healing remediation.

Partner with the Cybersecurity team to embed security controls and compliance checks directly into the automation fabric.

Ensure all automation code and processes are well-documented, tested, and version-controlled.

Communicate the program's progress, challenges, and successes to executive leadership.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

Essential Skills \& Experience:* Progressive experience in network engineering, architecture, and automation, with significant experience in a leadership role managing global technical teams.

Proven experience in a financial services or service provider environment, with an understanding of the criticality of low-latency, high-availability networks.

Demonstrable experience designing and delivering a large-scale network automation roadmap in a complex, mission-critical environment.

Deep technical knowledge of the network domains to be automated is a MUST: WAN, LAN, Data Center, Firewalls, Load Balancers, and DDI.

Expert-level proficiency in automation tools and languages: Python is essential, plus Java/Spring, C#, Terraform, and Git.

Deep understanding of DevOps principles and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).

Strong knowledge of network security principles and how to automate compliance.

Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to articulate a technical vision to both engineers and senior executives.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:* Direct experience in a market venue, exchange, or high-frequency trading environment.

Experience with cloud networking and automation in AWS, Azure, or GCP.

Advanced certifications such as CCIE, JNCIE, or relevant cloud/security credentials.

Experience with container networking (Kubernetes) and API-driven infrastructure.

Experience in developing cross-domain understanding and alignment between developers, architecture, and end user stakeholders for new capability development using Event Storming and End User story mapping techniques.
