Job Description

About the Organization

Join a global leader in critical digital infrastructure solutions, known for delivering advanced power and thermal technologies that support high‑density data center environments. This organization plays a key role in enabling AI, cloud computing, and large-scale digital operations by designing and deploying highly reliable, scalable electrical and mechanical systems. As part of this team, you will contribute to the engineering behind some of the most complex and mission‑critical data center projects across the country.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to lead the electrical scope of major data center projects from early pre‑sales design through commissioning. This role involves electrical system design, multi‑discipline coordination, equipment specification, and on‑site technical support. You will develop innovative electrical solutions that meet stringent performance, safety, and reliability standards essential to mission‑critical environments.

Key Responsibilities

Lead electrical engineering activities for assigned data center projects from concept through commissioning.

Develop electrical designs that meet quality, performance, and budget expectations.

Design UPS and DC power systems tailored to IT and facility loads.

Create switchgear configurations, protection schemes, and automated transfer controls using PLCs and/or relays.

Develop ground‑fault protection systems, including multi‑source arrangements.

Produce bills of material and modify standard assemblies to meet project requirements.

Apply working knowledge of Modbus, TCP/IP, RS‑485, and Ethernet communication protocols.

Manage external integration partners to deliver schematic, detailed, and construction‑ready electrical design documentation.

Collaborate closely with architects, general contractors, and other engineering disciplines.

Specify electrical equipment including UPS, switchgear, generators, and DC power systems.

Perform generator sizing and load analysis, considering inductive/resistive loads, motors, inertia, UPS harmonics, and more.

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal building and electrical codes.

Review and approve electrical product submittals.

Define project scope and respond to technical inquiries throughout construction.

Support quality control efforts during system integration and installation.

Partner with commissioning teams to verify system performance and functionality.

Conduct site visits for assessments, audits, and start-up support.

Propose creative, innovative engineering solutions to meet customer needs.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.

Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required.

At least 4 years of electrical engineering experience.

Strong knowledge of low‑voltage switchgear design, installation, and relevant codes.

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office tools.

Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.

Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC).

Ability to research new technologies and methods for data center infrastructure.

Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and proven problem‑solving ability.

Demonstrated leadership and project management skills.

Travel Requirements

Approximately 5% to 10%, including site visits and field engineering support.

Core Values \& Culture

This organization fosters a culture rooted in safety, integrity, respect, teamwork, innovation, and accountability. Employees are encouraged to act with urgency, take ownership, think boldly, and pursue continuous improvement while maintaining clear, transparent communication.
