Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong background in automation and material handling systems to join our custom machinery manufacturing team.

In this role, you will design, analyze, and optimize mechanical systems for the movement, storage, and handling of materials. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop innovative, safe, and efficient material handling solutions that improve productivity and meet customer-specific requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Design, analyze, and develop custom material handling equipment for automated machinery.

Design systems involving conveyors, stackers, buffers, and nesting systems.

Conduct time studies to evaluate cycle times, equipment utilization, and labor requirements.

Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and applications teams to develop project-specific solutions.

Optimize designs for safety, energy efficiency, reliability, and operational performance.

Perform detailed engineering analyses, including stress, load, motion, and kinematic analysis.

Select and specify mechanical components based on performance, reliability, and cost.

Work directly with customers and internal stakeholders to ensure designs meet specifications.

Support system testing, troubleshooting, and performance validation.

Collaborate with electrical engineers and programmers to integrate mechanical systems with automation and controls.

Prepare and maintain technical documentation such as design specifications, installation manuals, and operating procedures.

Stay current with industry trends and continuously improve material handling solutions.

Qualifications \& Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related discipline.

Proven experience in mechanical design of material handling systems, preferably in custom machinery or manufacturing environments.

Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including power transmission, gears, bearings, and basic fluid dynamics.

Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent).

Experience conducting time studies and using data to improve process efficiency.

Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.

Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00-$50.00 per hour
