Do you have a background working as a buyer, or importing/ wholesaling/ sourcing and supplying "Big Box" retailers?

Your experience
You will be an account manager with retail product sales experience, or a buyer keen to work on "the other side". It is essential you have experience developing products and managing one or more of these categories, or something closely aligned: home decor, tabletop, kitchen, storage, hardgoods, lawn, garden, pet, automotive, BBQ, lighting, sporting goods, or hardware.
You will love the variety and complexity of product development, have a strong eye for trends, great product knowledge and a sound understanding of the sourcing and supply process. You have a proven track record of successfully developing relationships and managing and growing product categories. Experience with Canada’s largest retailers, or discount stores would be ideal. A positive history of working with factories and a thorough understanding of production processes and QC and/or, QA knowledge would be a bonus.
The role
You will have your own portfolio of retail product categories you source internationally. Our talented in-house design team work closely with all our account managers to ensure there is a strong offering and the right solutions for our customers.
● Developing and maintaining high quality relationships with factories in Asia, key customers and our people globally (we like sharing ideas and wins).
● Creating and implementing effective product sourcing and sales strategies with input from your Business Manager.
● Ongoing research and retail analysis to enhance product development initiatives, working closely with suppliers and customers, demonstrating expertise and adding value.
● Creating presentations and catalogues for your buyers that are on point, communicate trends and innovation, provide inspiration and a sound commercial returns.
● Turning opportunites into reality by working closely with our team in China and partner factories in Asia.
● Responding positively and proactively to requests from suppliers, buyers and colleagues for information and assistance. We are great collaborators and you will be too.
● Want to be inspired? Travel to international trade fairs in Asia (x2 per year, for no more than 2 weeks) as part of our global product sourcing team.
● A valid and unrestricted driver’s license and being located within 45 mins drive from our office
● Located within 40km of Oakwood is important for this office-based role.
● You will need to have the right to work in the USA without sponsorship.
Your day
● Doing ongoing research and retail analysis to identify trends and innovation and product development initiatives.
● Creating effective sales and product sourcing strategies with your Manager and VP of Sales.
● Building positive enduring relationships with factories in Asia, key customers and colleagues in a range of areas.
● Managing the process, end to end.
● Traveling to international trade fairs in Asia (twice per year) as part of our global product sourcing team. Retail trips locally and to the USA happen fairly regularly too.
