Data Engineer
Location: Cologne (hybrid)
Our client is seeking a Data Engineer to help design and operate a modern cloud-based data platform. In this role you will collaborate across functions to build scalable data products that deliver real business value.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, optimise, and maintain a central data platform using cloud and data mesh principles.
Build robust ETL/ELT pipelines, integrate diverse data sources, and design scalable data models.
Work in agile, cross-functional squads with data experts, engineers, and business stakeholders.
Apply tools like Snowflake, AWS, dbt, and Python to deliver high-quality, efficient data solutions.
Champion modern development practices including version control, testing, and automation.
Drive innovation and take ownership in a flat, collaborative team structure.
Requirements:
1+ years of data engineering experience and a degree in informatics or a related field.
Proficiency with cloud data platforms (e.g. Snowflake).
Strong SQL and Python skills; experience with dbt is a plus.
Solid grasp of data modelling (Data Vault 2.0, bitemporal concepts).
AWS experience preferred, Azure and GCP also accepted.
Familiarity with DataOps and software engineering best practices.
Strong analytical and communication skills.
Fluent German.
