We are seeking an experienced Web Developer to work with the technical team to develop innovative Emergency Response tools. This work is supported by the Enterprise Ireland Commercialisation Fund Programme through project CF20242528. The project, ‘DeCaMaP’ focuses on providing a comprehensive digital Common Operational Picture to support Responders in managing Emergency Events such as Wildfires. DecaMap is a R\&D project focused on developing next generation Earth Observation and AI technologies to support real-time response to Emergency Events such as Wildfires. Platforms include Satellite, Aircraft, Drones, Mobile Devices using Optical, LiDAR, Navigation sensors. Highly automated Machine Learning and Geo-AI workflows underpin an intuitive Common Operational Picture to transform real-time data streams into a suite of useful information services delivered directly to Emergency Response HQ or responders out in the field.

A suitably qualified candidate with an excellent primary degree and ideally postgraduate degree with significant backend web platform research and development expertise is required to support the application design and development aspects within the DecaMap work-programme and supporting technical leadership. This specific role within the team will apply the candidate’s knowledge of backend web geospatial technologies to be use for developing the DecaMap rapid mapping prototype.

The candidate will work closely with the Principal Investigators \& Management Team (T McCarthy, J McDonald \& S. Keogh) and will be responsible for ensuring their aspects of the research work plan for this project are adhered to in terms of outputs, deliverables, and milestones. A high level of initiative and personal drive is required as this will be an environment where you will be joining the project at ground level, helping to lead the design and shape of technical solutions as well as implementing them. The candidate must have the ability to work independently, with minimal direction and on their own initiative. Occasionally the work will involve travel in the field, flight testing and meeting with project partners, attending relevant conferences as well as collating/preparing material for research funding calls.

We are seeking a web developer with a focus on back-end and API development to help design, build, and support a range of geospatial capabilities, including data ingestion, storage, discovery, and visualization. In addition to traditional API development, this role requires creating and integrating geospatial services that support advanced mapping and spatial analysis workflows. The role also involves working with drone data streams, managing spatial databases, and developing processing and analysis pipelines.

This position is ideal for a candidate with more than two years of demonstrable experience working with real-time imagery (RGB, IR) and a solid understanding of data handling techniques such as photogrammetry, monoscopic positioning, and feature tagging.

Salary Scale:

€47,119 - €54,029 (Point 1- 4)

Appointments will be made in accordance with public sector pay provisions.
