The Role You Could Play
Reporting to the Data Engineering Team Lead, the Associate Data Engineer is responsible for development, implementation and maintenance of data models, data integration, data processing and reporting solutions. The Associate Data Engineer will work closely with IT and business stakeholders to deliver data initiatives that provide the business with enhanced data and reporting capability.
The main responsibilities include:
Ability to quickly learn new skills and technologies where required
Take ownership and manage business expectations
Understanding of business processes and requirements analysis to deliver functional and practical solutions
Data model design and mapping
Provide clean transformed data ready for analysis
Promote self-service analytics and visual data discovery culture
Provide business users with training regarding reporting and analytical tools
Develop and maintain data documentation and definitions
Ability to build data integrations, ETL and orchestration using Airflow,Python, SQL and DBT
Work with providers of external data sources on implementation of new and maintenance of existing data integration jobs
Identify, investigate, and develop solutions to data quality, performance, and integrity issues
Prepare and perform data related test cases
Administer user access and permissions to data systems
Ensure data security when working with confidential and personal data
Good understanding of the AWS Cloud environment and data related services
What You Will Bring
You’re a curious and methodical data enthusiast who thrives on turning information into insights. With a solid foundation in data analysis and reporting, you bring:
Experience in developing reporting and BI solutions, with strong skills in SQL, Python and DBT Cloud for data manipulation, ETL/ELT and analysis.
Working knowledge of data structures, relational databases and administration (PostgreSQL, Snowflake), as well as experience with data integration tools such as Fivetran and formats like CSV, JSON, XML and APIs.
A strong understanding of data analysis techniques, coupled with a logical, sceptical and methodical approach to problem solving.
The ability to connect data insights to business outcomes, think proactively and contribute to decision-making with an outcome-focused mindset.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
A genuine passion for emerging technologies and a drive to continually learn and apply new tools and techniques in data analysis and reporting.
A bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as finance, economics, mathematics, statistics, science, computer science, engineering or a related field.
