The role(s)

We are excited to invite S oftware Engineering professionals to express interest in joining our high-performing Patient Care Systems software and technology centre in Medtronic in Galway . It’s a chance to join an exciting new team where you will be part of a software development group that works alongside our high-impact centers in the U.S. and India. Medtronic already has a strong footprint in Ireland, with thousands of employees across the company. Now it’s time for Patient Care Systems team to grow in Galway.

We are looking to speak with high‑calibre Software, Cloud, Data, and Test Engineering talent from mid‑level engineering through to principal engineers and offer opportunities to work on cloud‑native, highly scalable, and mission‑critical healthcare technology. These will be permanent fulltime positions with a hybrid onsite working model based in Galway.

A Day in the Life:

Designing, building, and operating cloud‑native platforms and services

Developing scalable, secure, and highly available applications and data pipelines

Supporting CI/CD, automation, monitoring, and observability

Building and testing software that supports connected medical devices, IoT platforms and data services

Collaborating in Agile/Scrum teams across engineering, architecture and product

Participating in production support

Mentoring engineers and contributing to engineering best practices

Key Skills \& Experience

Languages \& Frameworks

Python, C#, Java, C/C++, JavaScript / TypeScript

.NET / .NET Core, Angular

REST APIs, Microservices

Cloud \& Platform

AWS (preferred), Azure exposure

Kubernetes, Docker

Cloud‑native services, distributed systems

Data \& Integration

Data pipelines, data platforms, streaming (Kafka or similar)

SQL \& NoSQL databases

CI/CD pipelines, Git‑based workflows

Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform)

Automated testing (unit, integration, system)

Monitoring \& observability (e.g., ELK, Dynatrace, CloudWatch, Prometheus)

Strong security, quality, and data‑privacy mindset

Experience in regulated or high‑reliability environments a plus
