The Role
We’re hiring a full-time
Backend Engineer
with strong
Python expertise
and
mobile workflow experience (iOS + Android)
to power Mercury’s trading engine and mobile integrations.
You’ll work on:
Architecting and scaling Python-based backend systems
Designing and maintaining REST \& WebSocket APIs used by our mobile apps
Building and optimizing real-time systems (execution, market data, push notifications)
Integrating with Hyperliquid APIs, smart contracts, and Hyperevm protocols
Collaborating with mobile engineers (React Native, Android, iOS) to ensure smooth backend → app workflows
Ensuring security, reliability, and low latency across the stack
Requirements
3+ years of experience in backend engineering (
Python required; Go/Rust/Node.js a plus
)
Strong background in designing REST and WebSocket APIs
Familiarity with Android + iOS workflows (React Native, Swift, Kotlin, Gradle builds, CI/CD pipelines)
Solid knowledge of databases (Postgres, Redis, caching strategies)
Experience building scalable, distributed, low-latency systems
Comfort working in fast-paced startup environments
Nice to Have
Crypto/DeFi or trading infrastructure experience
Smart contract integrations (Solidity, CosmWasm, or EVM)
Prior work on mobile-first fintech or trading apps
Contributions to open-source projects
A strong presence on
X (Twitter)
, sharing thoughts, code, or crypto/tech insights
