MetaPhase is seeking a Mid-Level UI/UX \& Front-End Developer to support an Agile team on a Department of State contract within the Diplomatic Technology, Enterprise Applications, Personnel \& Training Apps Office (DT/EA/PTA). This high-impact role supports the operations and maintenance (O\&M) of a major system enabling Foreign Service assignment and bidding.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of user experience and front-end engineering. You will lead the translation of user journeys, wireframes, and design concepts into polished, production-ready interfaces. You will flex between discovery, design, prototyping, and front-end development—owning the full design-to-delivery workflow and ensuring a seamless user experience across the application.

What You Will Be Doing:

UI/UX Design \& Translation* Convert wireframes, workflows, and prototypes into high-fidelity, user-centered interface designs.

Conduct UX discovery sessions with product owners and end users to clarify requirements and improve usability.

Refine and iterate on designs based on feedback, analytics, and user acceptance activities.

Front-End Development* Build responsive, accessible, modular front-end components in a .NET application environment using React, JavaScript/TypeScript, and CSS.

Implement and evolve design systems or component libraries to ensure consistency, scalability, and efficient development.

Accessibility, Quality, \& Compliance* Ensure all UI work meets Section 508 and Department of State compliance standards.

Apply automated and manual testing to validate accessibility, performance, and usability.

Cross-Functional Collaboration* Participate fully in Agile ceremonies, shaping technical feasibility and UX impacts early in the planning cycle.

Partner closely with developers, analysts, designers, and product owners to align design intent with functional delivery.

DevOps Alignment* Support CI/CD processes for front-end assets, ensuring smooth integration, testing, and deployment through Azure-based pipelines.

What We Need From You (Required):

3+ years of experience in UI/UX, front-end development, or a UX engineering hybrid role.

Strong proficiency in React, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.

Experience using Figma or similar design tools to create and translate user interface designs.

Experience maintaining or contributing to design systems or component libraries.

Ability to communicate design rationale clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a federal security clearance.

Bonus Points (Preferred):* Active Secret clearance

Experience supporting federal clients, particularly the Department of State

Familiarity with Agile/Scrum practices

Experience integrating UI/UX workflows into Azure CI/CD pipelines

Basic to intermediate knowledge of Azure cloud services or DevOps tooling

Work Setup:

Remote, customer site: Washington, DC

Clearance \& Education:* Must be eligible for a Secret clearance.

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of technical experience.

Compensation:* Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $120k-$140K.
