We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join our team! This is an exciting time to join our group and work on something highly strategic to Microsoft. Microsoft Dataverse is the platform to securely store an enormous amount of data in a cost efficient, scalable and easily manageable way. This team builds a suite of microservices to get near real-time insights over your data across various product suites at Microsoft including Power Apps, Power Automate, Microsoft Copilot studio as well as various M365 products. You will be a part of a team of engineers who thrive on solving complex problems at scale while doing it with impeccable quality. As part of your role you would be working on the cutting-edge innovation happening in building agentic workloads at scale while maintaining impeccable quality.
This role requires you to be onsite 3 days a week in Microsoft's offices in Redmond, WA.

Design, implement, test, deploy, maintain, and improve our software components and services
Lead initiatives to deliver complex features, substantially improve product quality, and transform operations within the team
Lead technical discussions and bring new ideas to the table
Design and Build Scalable AI Infrastructure
Fine tuning AI models
Develop Experimentation and Evaluation Frameworks
Lead code reviews to ensure all quality standards are met and by modeling best practices
Work with Product Managers, Architects and UX Designers to design and specify new features from the engineering standpoint
Identify need for internal tools that improve the teams’ quality and productivity, and lead their implementation
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
4+ years of experience leveraging subject matter expertise to analyze problems and issues facing projects to uncover, manage, and/or mitigate factors that can influence final outcomes across product lines.

This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
4+ years of experience partnering and collaborating with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., product manager, technical lead) to determine user requirements for a set of scenarios.
4+ years of experience utilizing a variety of feedback channels to incorporate insights into future designs or solution fixes.
4+ years of experience leading incorporation of appropriate continuous feedback loops measuring customer value, usage patterns, and other actionable metrics of value.
Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
