Job Description

We’re looking for a Product Designer to join the CoreAI Design Studio and help us create the best possible user experience for developers utilizing our AI and Agentic tools. As part of the team, you’ll collaborate with other designers, content strategists, researchers, product managers, and engineers to envision, improve, and expand some of the fastest growing products at Microsoft.

In this role you will work on complex problems for our customers who care deeply about both productivity and ease-of-use. We’re looking for a Product Designer who’s driven by empathy for customers, and the need to know how to serve them better. You’ll work closely with an interdisciplinary team to deliver the next generation of experiences to empower developers.

We are looking for a candidate who is code-curious and excited about the intersection of design and AI. You should also have experience in the full life cycle of digital design, from envisioning to concepting to prototyping to execution, and a basic understanding of software technologies and programming.

Drive product design for developer tools, AI experiences, and AI agents.

Deliver design and innovation across one or more facets of the design process, including sketching, prototyping, journey mapping, information architecture, interaction design, and usability.

Leverage and contribute to design patterns across Microsoft products and services.

Work in an iterative manner, scoping and prioritizing work across multiple projects.

Advocate for the user and champion industry-leading, inclusive, and user-centered design practices.

Collaborate with your peers (including content, research, product management, and engineering) to enhance the clarity and usability of product experiences.

Untangle complex technical concepts and recommend strategic design solutions.

Participate in weekly design team critiques to get and give feedback on product work.

Foster and support an inclusive culture within CoreAI.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field

  • OR equivalent experience (e.g., demonstrated experience working in product or service design or using design thinking to solve problems).

Experience using verbal and written communication skills to present your work

1+ year(s) experience working with current design tools such as Figma or Adobe CC

Experience identifying skill gaps and addressing them by learning and applying new technologies through hands-on projects, prototypes, or internal initiatives that improve products or workflows

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 1+ years related work experience working in product or service design

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 1+ year(s) relevant internship/work experience working in product or service design

  • OR equivalent experience (e.g., demonstrated experience working in product or service design or using design thinking to solve problems).

Demonstrated ability to synthetize design solutions from ambiguous concepts

Experience working in a complex and highly technical product space

Ability to code prototypes (JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or similar) and work directly in developer environments (e.g., VS Code, GitHub, CLI).

Experience designing or working with AI/LLMs, intelligent agents, or automation workflows.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Product Design IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $84,200 - $165,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $109,000 - $180,400 per year.
