At Microsoft, the 1ES Hosted Service Team designs, maintains, automates, and secures internal Source Code services used by thousands of developers across the globe. You’ll be joining a team that builds secure, compliant, and scalable systems that directly impact how software is developed company-wide. Our team is also deeply involved in standing up new AI-related services across Microsoft, including the MCP Registry, a foundational protocol for AI agent orchestration, and the enterprise deployment of LLM Model repository for secure model hosting and consumption. These efforts position us at the center of Microsoft’s agentic ecosystem, enabling developers to build intelligent applications with cutting-edge tools.

As a Software Engineer on the Hosted Service Team, you’ll deliver ready-to-code environments enhanced with AI capabilities to streamline engineering workflows and improve security posture. You’ll work on services that support product development best practices, tackle complex technical challenges, and collaborate across teams to solve problems on a scale.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with stakeholders to understand user requirements and translate them into actionable technical plans.

Contribute to design documentation, identify dependencies, and assist in breaking down work items into tasks with accurate estimations.

Implement and maintain code for features and services, reusing components where applicable and learning from guidance.

Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, fostering teamwork and accountability across engineering and partner teams.

Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) for monitoring and responding to system degradation or downtime, following established playbooks.

Manage crisis situations involving complex technical issues and diverse audiences with empathy and clarity.

Conduct technical reviews and develop action plans in collaboration with internal and external teams.

Continuously seek new knowledge to improve system availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance at scale.

Contribute to Microsoft’s AI infrastructure by supporting services like MCP Registry and internal LLM model repositories, helping shape the future of intelligent software development.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
