About the Role
We’re looking for a
Senior Front End Engineer
to join a Melbourne-based team building a modern smart energy platform. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys writing high-quality React code, shaping user experiences, and working closely with both local and offshore engineering teams.
You’ll contribute directly to customer-facing applications that support energy usage, insights, and optimisation, working in a product-led environment where performance, clarity, and reliability matter.
What You’ll Do
Build and maintain modern, responsive web applications using
React
and
TypeScript
Work closely with product managers and designers to turn requirements into clean, intuitive user interfaces
Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate APIs and data services
Take ownership of frontend features from implementation through to release
Contribute to frontend architecture decisions and shared component libraries
Review code and support consistent quality across local and offshore teams
Help improve frontend performance, accessibility, and maintainability
Work in a hybrid setup, collaborating with a Melbourne-based team and offshore engineers
What You Bring
5+ years of experience as a Front End or Full Stack Engineer, with a strong focus on
React
Excellent knowledge of
JavaScript/TypeScript
, modern CSS, and component-based design
Experience working with REST APIs and/or GraphQL
Strong hands-on coding skills and a pragmatic approach to problem-solving
Comfortable working with distributed teams across different time zones
Clear communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Experience working in product-focused engineering teams
Nice to Have
Experience in energy, utilities, or data-driven platforms
Familiarity with state management tools
Experience with frontend testing frameworks
Exposure to cloud-hosted platforms and CI/CD pipelines
Understanding of accessibility standards and performance optimisation
