POSITION SUMMARY
Modern Government Solutions (MGS) is seeking a DevOps Engineer to support and operate secure, cloud-based platform infrastructure in a classified environment. This role focuses on managing AWS GovCloud infrastructure using Terraform, operating Kubernetes (EKS) clusters with GitOps tools such as ArgoCD and Helm, and owning CI/CD pipelines that support reliable application delivery. You will collaborate closely with developers, contribute to system reliability through monitoring and automation, and support greenfield initiatives while working within government security and compliance requirements, with some on-site work in secure facilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES (not limited to):
Managing and administering our AWS cloud infrastructure across multiple accounts, leveraging Terraform and AWS best practices.
Overseeing and maintaining multiple EKS clusters, utilizing ArgoCD and Helm for deployments.
Leading efforts in logging, monitoring, and alerting to ensure system reliability and performance.
Owning and optimizing GitLab CI/CD pipelines, collaborating closely with developers to meet evolving needs.
Stay engaged with new greenfield initiatives, providing input and expertise in solution architecture.
Working in classified environment which may require on-site presence in secure facilities.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess an active Department of Defense (DoD) TS/SCI security clearance.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a CI Polygraph.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
2-4 years of professional experience as a Site Reliability Engineer, Platform Engineer, or Cloud Engineer emphasizing security best practices.
Strong knowledge of AWS GovCloud.
Hands-on experience running and scaling apps with Kubernetes and Docker.
Experience managing infrastructure as code with Terraform.
Familiarity with GitOps workflows and packaging apps using Helm.
Experience with observability and monitoring tools, such as Grafana, Prometheus, and Loki.
Proficiency in Python and Bash for automation and scripting and experience working with PostgreSQL databases.
Familiarity with government security and compliance frameworks and applying DevSecOps best practices for secure infrastructure and deployments.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
AWS GovCloud certification.
Experience supporting mission systems in national security or space-related environments is a plus.
