Title: Asst Dir-Data Engineer

Location: 7 World Trade Center, 250 Greenwich Street, New York, NY 10007 (Principal place of business – telecommuting permitted)

Duties: Design, implement, and maintain robust, scalable, and optimal data pipeline architectures. Integrate and transform large, complex datasets from diverse sources to meet functional and non-functional business requirements. Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery pipelines, and re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability and efficiency. Ensure reliability, quality, and performance of data pipelines through comprehensive monitoring, logging, alerting, and implementing automated retry and failure detection mechanisms. Build and manage core infrastructure required for optimal data extraction, transformation, loading (ETL/ELT), and storage, leveraging a variety of data tools and cloud services. Develop and manage processes and infrastructure for complete lifecycle of datasets, including data modeling standards, schema evolution, metadata management, data lineage, dependency tracking, and workload management. Build internal services, tools, and platforms to empower in-house partners to implement, deploy, manage, and analyze datasets with a high degree of autonomy and minimal friction (self-service analytics). Implement and uphold data governance policies, data quality standards, and security best practices across the data platform, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. Collaborate closely with data scientists, analysts, software engineers, and product managers to understand data needs, gather requirements, and deliver effective platform solutions. Create and maintain clear documentation for data pipelines, platform architecture, processes, and user guides. Evaluate, prototype, and recommend new technologies, tools, and approaches to continuously improve the data platform's capabilities, performance, and cost-effectiveness. Telecommuting Permitted (100% telecommuting position. Will consider applicants resident in the continental U.S.).

Requirements: Requires a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field plus two (2) years of experience as a Data Engineer, Data Analyst, or in a related position implementing data quality best practices and data governance principles. Must have experience with the following: performing programming, design, and architectural patterns within data engineering or software development; designing, developing, and maintaining data integration/ETL pipelines from various sources and formats; working with development tools and programming languages such as Postman, R, Python, and PySpark; using advanced libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, Scikit, NLP, MatPlotLib, NetworkX, and Boto3; working with RDBMS (such as MS SQLServer, MySQL, and Postgresql), Data Warehouses (such as Snowflake or Redshift), Databricks, IDEs, Jupyter Notebook, GitHub, Jenkins, and Jira; designing and developing Microservices with RESTful Service API; creating dashboards using Power BI, Tableau, or related tools; applying knowledge of Cloud services infrastructure, including IAM policy, S3 buckets, and Lambda functions; and performing Table Partitioning and conducting SQL tuning.
