Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced SSIS and SQL developer to support our data integration and ETL initiatives. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in both SSIS orchestration patterns and comprehensive ETL development, with strong dimensional modeling skills. Must have experience working with large retail data sets and a solid understanding of retail reporting requirements.

Core Technical Requirements
SSIS Expertise
Advanced SSIS Development: Proficient in designing, developing, and maintaining complex SSIS packages
Orchestration Patterns: Experience using SSIS as an orchestration tool to coordinate data workflows and manage dependencies between processes
Full ETL Implementation: Capable of implementing end-to-end ETL processes entirely within SSIS, including error handling, logging, and performance optimization
Package Deployment: Experience with SSIS catalog deployment, environment configurations, and parameter management
SQL and Database Skills
Advanced SQL Development: Complex query writing incl stored procedures
Data Shaping and Transformation: Expertise in transforming and preparing data at the database level using T-SQL
Database Design: Understanding of normalized and denormalized database structures
Data Modeling Requirements
Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD Type 2): Hands-on experience implementing and maintaining SCD2 patterns for historical data tracking
Star Schema Design: Proven experience designing and implementing star schema data warehouses, including fact and dimension table relationships
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop SSIS packages for both orchestration and complete ETL workflows
Implement SCD2 logic for maintaining historical data accuracy
Build and optimize star schema data warehouse structures
Requirements Analysis: Review and analyze technical requirements documents, identifying gaps and potential implementation challenges
Technical Consultation: Ask thoughtful, probing questions about data sources, business rules, and technical constraints to ensure robust implementation
Project Management: Use Jira for task tracking, sprint planning, and progress reporting
Version Control: Manage code using GitHub, including branching strategies, pull requests, and collaborative development
Optimize SQL queries and SSIS packages for performance
Document technical specifications and data lineage
Troubleshoot and resolve data integration issues
Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand data requirements
Required Experience
Minimum 3 years of hands-on SSIS development experience
Proven track record with large-scale data warehouse implementations
Point of Sale (POS) data experience: Familiarity with retail transaction data, sales reporting, and POS system integrations
Experience with SQL Server 2016 and later
Deep technical knowledge of SCD2 and star schema design: Ability to discuss implementation strategies, trade-offs, and best practices in detail
GitHub proficiency: Experience with Git workflows, branching, merging, and collaborative development
Jira experience: Comfortable with agile project management, sprint planning, and issue tracking
Requirements analysis skills: Demonstrated ability to review technical documentation and ask clarifying questions
Independent problem-solving: Ability to work autonomously while knowing when to escalate or seek guidance
Preferred Qualifications
HubSpot integration experience: Knowledge of HubSpot APIs, data models, and ETL patterns for CRM data integration
Python experience: Familiarity with Python for data processing, automation, or integration tasks
Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
Familiarity with data governance and metadata management
Understanding of Agile development methodologies
Experience with retail or transaction-heavy industries
Knowledge of data quality frameworks and validation techniques
Deliverables

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 15 pounds. Able to work outdoors for extended periods of time in possibly extreme conditions, including rain, heat, sun, and wind.
