Job Description

A fast-moving cloud and media infrastructure platform is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to lead the deployment and optimization of OpenStack-based systems powering next-generation video services. This is a hands-on, high-impact role driving the reliability, scalability, and performance of distributed infrastructure at scale. You’ll join a technically deep team focused on building an open and independent cloud stack, with a particular emphasis on automation, observability, and secure multi-tenant architecture.

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience managing large-scale OpenStack environments, deep knowledge of Linux and networking, and fluency in tools like Ansible, Python, and container-based orchestration. Kubernetes exposure and the ability to work across infrastructure layers—from CI/CD to compute and storage—will set you up to make an immediate impact.

This position is fully onsite in downtown Toronto.

Required Skills \& Experience

3+ years leading OpenStack operations in production, including installation, upgrade, and troubleshooting of services like Nova, Neutron, Cinder, and Keystone

Advanced Linux systems administration skills (Ubuntu, RHEL, CentOS) with strong experience in OVS/OVN networking and containerized deployments using Kolla Ansible

Proficiency in Python for automation, diagnostics, and scripting, plus hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Ansible, Terraform)

Desired Skills \& Experience

Experience integrating OpenStack with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation (GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar)

Familiarity with distributed storage systems (Ceph), virtualization (KVM/QEMU), observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK), and security protocols

Prior experience supporting infrastructure for high-throughput video platforms or large-scale media delivery environments

Daily Responsibilities

Hands-On Engineering: 65%

Team Collaboration \& Cross-Functional Work: 35%

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in Canada on a full-time basis now and in the future.

Accommodation will be provided in all parts of the hiring process as required under Motion Recruitment’s Employment Accommodation policy. Applicants need to make their needs known in advance.
