Mott MacDonald has an immediate need for a Mechanical Engineer to work on Built Environment related projects in Canada and assist in planning, design and construction of commercial, civic, institutional, governmental, transportation, and general infrastructure projects. Mott MacDonald currently has a permanent opportunity for a motivated, capable and organized Mechanical Engineer within our Toronto office.
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
Involvement in a project or a small portfolio of projects of various sizes from conception through to completion.
Work within a mechanical engineering team in a multi-disciplinary, time sensitive environment with changing priorities
Undertaking design and occasional contract administration roles across several mechanical sub-disciplines
Take personal responsibility to assure that work is completed on time, on budget, and within the quality standards of the firm. Agreeing timescales and specifications with clients and managers
Preparation of documents and reports
Working towards professional qualifications and undertaking training
Having an appreciation of the roles of fellow professionals on multidisciplinary projects and interfacing and coordinating with them appropriately
Participate in training for individuals and the team, in accordance with Group policies
Working in accordance with company policies and developing personal goals and objectives
Provide supporting data to Project Managers to facilitate analyses of activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to determine department progress toward stated goals and objectives
Monitors progress on assigned projects
Candidate Specification:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from accredited University
Minimum 3+ years’ experience in engineering design and contract administration design works
Possess knowledge of HVAC, Plumbing Drainage, and Fire Protection systems
Experienced in Revit, CADD and Heating/Cooling calculation software
Keen interest in delivering projects using BIM methods and technology driven solutions
Working towards or possess Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) designation in the province of Ontario
Able to apply technical knowledge in analyzing problems and creating solutions
Flexible approach to work, and ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
Strong attention to detail and ability to make correct judgments
Able to work on own initiative. Enthusiastic and ambitious
Strong knowledge of local and national codes and other legislative requirements
LEED certification desirable
Experience within the Transit and Aviation Sector desirable
Demonstrated ability to work with minimal direct oversight and to deliver projects on-time and budget to the satisfaction of clients
Positive ‘can-do’ attitude, to working with colleagues and clients
Adaptable to working within different client environments/cultures
Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills in complex and changing environments
Willing and able to travel within the Canada and internationally as required to support projects
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
