Full-time, permanent position based in any NZTA office location

Join our Data Chapter and help us deliver reliable, resilient and high value geospatial services across NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) and beyond.

We're looking for a skilled Geospatial Engineer to work at the heart of our enterprise geospatial ecosystem - supporting and developing the platforms, tools and processes that enable better decision'making nationwide.

You will:

Support and enhance the enterprise geospatial platform and associated applications, including ArcGIS Enterprise, FME and our geospatial data warehouse.

Design, build and manage ETL workflows using FME or Python.

Collaborate with internal teams, external vendors and government partners to ensure high-performing, secure and reliable geospatial systems.

Implement upgrades, develop new capabilities and ensure robust change-management processes.

Troubleshoot complex issues and contribute to continuous improvement across our digital environment.

Stay up to date with ESRI technologies, GIS programming, database management and modern web mapping practices.

Help shape geospatial best practice within one of Aotearoa's most impactful public organisations.

You'll be a curious, solutions focused geospatial professional who enjoys working collaboratively and delivering high quality outcomes. You will bring:

Extensive experience with the ESRI suite, ArcGIS Enterprise, web mapping, ArcSDE geodatabases and modern geospatial tools.

Strong technical skills in Python, JavaScript, HTML5, ASP.NET, R or FME, and experience working with RESTful endpoints.

Experience designing, supporting or maintaining ETL processes.

Understanding of software development, integration and version control.

Experience with change, release or agile delivery environments.

Excellent analytical skills and the ability to manage and validate complex datasets.

Clear, confident communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Knowledge of Power BI or Qlik integration is an advantage.

Qualifications

Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g., GIS, Geography or related field).

Professional ESRI training or certifications are highly desirable.
