With a primary hub in Wellington, and a presence throughout the country, NZ Police ICT delivers modern digital solutions both directly and through specialist vendor partnerships. This is an exciting Technical Product Owner (TPO) role that has the ability to shape the future of our enterprise devices. You will be part of a forward-thinking group that values innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement with a focus on delivering great outcomes to our frontline.

As the Technical Product Owner – Enterprise Devices, you will input into the strategy and Roadmaps and be responsible for the delivery, and continuous improvement of our enterprise device ecosystem. This includes desktops, laptops, printers, peripherals, application packaging, and the rollout of our new Microsoft Intune platform, currently in pilot, and ongoing laptop and desktop refresh, with the ultimate aim of moving to an evergreen device life cycling approach.

You’ll lead a team of engineers with varying levels of experience, providing technical direction, coaching, and support to ensure high-quality outcomes. Your role will bridge technical expertise and user needs, ensuring our device solutions are secure, scalable, and fit for purpose.

Key Accountabilities:

Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and support a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.

Product Ownership: Own the roadmap, backlog, and delivery of enterprise device products including desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals.

Intune Platform Management: Lead the deployment, configuration, and ongoing management of Microsoft Intune for modern device management.

Application Packaging: Oversee the packaging and deployment of applications across the device fleet, ensuring compatibility and performance.

Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand user needs, pain points, and opportunities for improvement.

Continuous Improvement: Monitor performance, user feedback, and emerging technologies to drive iterative enhancements.

Security and Compliance: Ensure all device solutions meet organisational security standards and compliance requirements.

Vendor and Partner Coordination: Manage relationships with hardware and software vendors to ensure timely delivery and support.

Proven experience as a Product Owner, Delivery Management, Technical Lead, or Engineering Manager, ideally in device management.

Demonstrated ability to lead and develop technical teams.

An understanding of Microsoft Intune, Windows OS, and application packaging tools.

Experience managing device lifecycles, from procurement to retirement.

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Ability to translate technical requirements into user-focused solutions.

Experience working in Agile or hybrid delivery environments.

A proactive mindset with a focus on outcomes, user experience, and operational efficiency.
