Reports To: Rachel Chandler, Lead Automation Engineer, NX Designer Automation

Role Overview

The Engineer for the NX Designer Automation is responsible for driving execution, alignment, and continuous improvement across a suite of design-automation initiatives that support project engineering workflows. This role ensures that NX Designer automation tools and workflows are delivered on time, meet user needs, and align with broader NX Designer enterprise automation-engineering strategy.

The Engineer works closely with engineering, product management, software development, sales, supply chain, and manufacturing stakeholders to define requirements, prioritize work, remove roadblocks, and ensure successful deployment and adoption of automation capabilities within NX Designer.

Key Responsibilities

Program \& Project Leadership

Lead planning, scheduling, and execution of multiple concurrent automation projects within the NX Designer platform. They will be working with both India and Brazil software teams to accomplish this goal.

Define program scope, deliverables, success metrics, and timelines in collaboration with engineering and digital-tools leadership.

Create and manage project roadmaps, sprint plans, and release schedules.

Coordinate cross-functional teams—including NX software developers, CAD automation engineers, other stakeholders, ect.—to ensure consistent progress.

Stakeholder Alignment \& Requirements Management

Gather user requirements from other department teams, validating pain points and identifying automation opportunities.

Translate business needs into functional requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.

Help facilitate design reviews, backlog prioritization sessions, and alignment meetings.

Execution \& Delivery

Track milestones, manage risks, and proactively resolve blockers to keep development efforts on schedule.

Drive testing, validation, and documentation efforts for new automation features and enhancements.

Oversee rollout and adoption, including training coordination and communication planning.

Ensure version control, release notes, and change-management processes are properly followed.

Process Improvement \& Governance

Establish program KPIs such as cycle-time reduction, automation adoption rate, and productivity gains.

Standardize workflows, documentation practices, and quality metrics for automation deliverables.

Identify and implement improvements to Agile/Hybrid project methodologies within the team.

Maintain alignment with enterprise PLM (Teamcenter) and digital engineering strategy.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Serve as the primary liaison between engineering, software development, manufacturing support, and IT infrastructure teams.

Ensure automation tools integrate smoothly with NX, Teamcenter, and related platforms.

Communicate program status, risks, and decisions to executive leadership.

Qualifications

Required

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Project Management, or related field.

3+ years of experience in program or project management within engineering, product development, automation, or CAD systems domains.

Strong understanding of modules and workflows; familiarity with NX Designer suite preferred.

Demonstrated experience managing technical software or automation projects end-to-end.

Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder-management skills.

Ability to translate technical information into actionable plans.

Preferred

Knowledge of Agile methodologies and tooling (Jira, Aha!, Azure DevOps, etc.).

PMP, Scrum Master, or similar certification.
