About Nexus
Nexus is a cutting-edge deep tech startup emerging from Imperial College London, positioned at the intersection of advanced manufacturing and artificial intelligence. We're solving the billion-pound challenge of metal 3D printing qualification and certification that has limited the industry's full potential. Our proprietary technology transforms complex sensor data into real-time actionable insights, enabling manufacturers to dynamically adapt and verify their processes with unprecedented precision.
Founded by a team of experts in AI, materials science, and additive manufacturing, we've already secured partnerships with industry leaders and are backed by investors who believe in our vision to fundamentally transform how critical components are manufactured.
The Opportunity
As our Frontend developer, you'll tackle extraordinary technical challenges that go far beyond typical web development. You'll create intuitive interfaces that visualise complex 3D printing data and sensor streams in real-time, empowering engineers to make critical manufacturing decisions with confidence. Your work will directly enable aerospace, medical, and automotive manufacturers to produce mission-critical components with unprecedented precision and reliability.
Core Responsibilities
·
Translate rough concepts and user requirements into polished, functional interfaces with minimal design hand-off
· Make thoughtful UI/UX decisions that balance user needs, technical constraints, and development speed
· Implement and enhance frontend features using React and modern TypeScript frameworks
· Work closely with the application developers to harness back-end functionality
· Collaborate with data scientists to visualise complex 3D printing data and sensor outputs
· Participate in customer interviews to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications
· Optimise application performance for handling large datasets, including point clouds and 3D models
· Implement robust error handling and monitoring systems for production environments
Required Expertise
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
2+ years of hands-on experience as frontend developer
TypeScript and one other programming language with frontend environments like React
Strong visual design sense and attention to detail in UI implementation
Ability to create wireframes or mockups to communicate ideas with the team
Solid understanding of WebSockets and experience with frontend testing (e.g. Jest, React Testing Library)
Exceptional problem-solving abilities with a bias toward practical solutions
Eligible to work in the UK
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with 3D visualisation libraries (Three.js, WebGL)
Experience with design tools (Figma, Sketch, or similar)
Some experience on backend work to better understand frontend challenges
Experience designing data-dense or technical interfaces (AI/ML focus)
Experience with scientific or industrial software development
Portfolio demonstrating both design thinking and implementation skills
Location
Central London location (in-person 4 days, 1 day remote)
