A leading professional services organisation is delivering a large-scale, multi-year transformation to become a technology-led business, with data, platforms, and AI at the centre of how services are delivered across the firm. Backed by significant investment, this programme is focused on building modern internal and client-facing data products that improve efficiency, enable better decision-making, and unlock new commercial value.
The Data Engineer will play a key role in building and operating a modern, cloud-based data platform. Working closely with data architects, analysts, and engineers, the role will focus on developing reliable, scalable data pipelines that support analytics, reporting, and data-driven products. This is a hands-on position within a growing central data capability, offering the opportunity to influence architecture, tooling, standards, and ways of working from an early stage.
Key responsibilities include:
Designing, building, and maintaining scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure / Microsoft Fabric, Data Factory, PySpark, and Dataflows
Integrating data from APIs, databases, and flat files into centralised data lake and analytics platforms
Monitoring, optimising, and improving pipeline performance, reliability, and cost efficiency
Implementing data quality, validation, and governance processes to deliver trusted datasets
Collaborating with architects and analysts to deliver analytics-ready data products
Required experience:
Strong experience with Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, and SQL Server
Excellent SQL skills and strong Python experience
Experience with modern data lake architectures (e.g. Delta Lake)
Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps practices
Comfortable working in evolving, greenfield environments
