Job Description

Key responsibilities:

Supervise and manage a team of software engineers across Frontend, Backend, and DevOps domains. Assign tasks, set performance goals, and conduct regular performance evaluations. Provide mentorship, career development planning, and conflict resolution for direct reports.

Participate in hiring decisions, including interviewing, onboarding, and employee development. Recommend promotions, terminations, and salary adjustments in coordination with HR and senior leadership. Develop and execute engineering strategies aligned with company goals and timelines.

Manage engineering resources to meet delivery schedules and business priorities. Set team KPIs, monitor progress, and report on team productivity and performance.

Define engineering standards, methodologies, and best practices across teams. Work closely with the Product Manager, QA Manager, and other department heads to ensure seamless coordination of product requirements and release planning.

Represent the engineering function in cross-functional leadership meetings. Provide technical direction and feasibility input during product planning and design phases, while delegating technical implementation to team leads and engineers. Participate in the department’s budgeting process, including headcount planning and resource allocation.

Approve procurement of tools, technologies, or services required for team efficiency.

Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and security best practices.

Identify project risks and work proactively with stakeholders to develop mitigation plans.

Skills and experience

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).

Minimum 15+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 4+ years in a managerial capacity.

Proven experience managing professional-level employees and delivering enterprise-grade software projects.

Strong understanding of resource planning, project prioritization, and workload balancing across multiple product lines or feature teams.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently with executive leadership and technical staff alike.

It would be nice if you also had:

Familiarity with agile development methodologies, team ceremonies (scrum, sprint planning), and performance tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).

Experience with cloud-native technologies, concepts and workflows.

Ability to drive engagement with key customers, service teams, and business partners.
