About the Role

Are you a food product innovator with a sharp eye for compliance and a passion for creating market leading wholefoods? We’re looking for a Product Development Manager to drive innovation and reformulation across our product categories – ensuring every product not only meets the highest quality standards, but also complies with national and international regulations.

This role is all about blending creativity, science and strategy. You’ll manage the full product lifecycle from ideation through to launch, ensuring excellence in taste, functionality and compliance. With a strong understanding for the Australian food regulatory frameworks (and preferably TGA listed product experience), you’ll collaborate closely with cross functional teams to bring new ideas to life while maintaining the integrity and reputation of our brand.

Key Responsibilities

Category Ownership:

Manage the assigned product categories from ideation through to launch, ensuring product excellence and market relevance

Manage the reformulation of existing products to improve quality, meet market demands and margin benchmarks

Collaborate with the marketing, production and supply chain teams to align category performance with business goals

Product Development \& Innovation:

Lead new product development efforts within your categories, focusing on innovative, high-quality products that meet market demands

Facilitate innovation workshops to generate new product ideas and prototypes

Conduct ingredient sourcing, recipe development and sensory analysis to optimise product offerings

Identify opportunities for product innovation based on market trends, consumer insights, and competitive analysis

Compliance:

Ensure all products in your category meet national and international regulatory standards, including ingredient verification, labelling compliance and safety testing

Oversee the accuracy of labelling, ingredient verification and record keeping for compliance with food safety laws

Stay informed on industry regulations and adapt category practices accordingly

Project Management:

Lead and manage product development projects within your category, ensuring timely and successful completion of deliverables

Maintain detailed project documentation, from project planning to post launch evaluation

Address and resolve issues that arise during product development or project execution

Education \& Training:

Develop and facilitate training for internal and external stakeholders on new products, compliance changes, or category developments

Lead employee onboarding and external distributor training for your product category

Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure accurate and compelling product information is communicated in marketing materials

Qualifications, Skills \& Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Nutrition or a related field

Proven experience in product development, project management and food regulatory compliance

Extensive knowledge of Australian food standards

Experience with TGA listed products/processes preferred, but not essential

A collaborative, hands-on approach with a passion for innovation

Strong communicator and problem solver with an eye for detail
