Role Overview

As a Data Engineer, you will play a key role in building and optimising the core data platform. You will design scalable data pipelines, improve infrastructure, and ensure high-quality data for product, analytics, and customer use cases. You’ll work with modern cloud technology and help shape the architecture in a fast-moving, product-led environment.

This role also involves collaborating with Dutch-speaking customers and internal stakeholders, so strong communication in Dutch is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain robust ETL/ELT data pipelines.

Develop and optimise data models, data lakes, and data warehouses.

Integrate data from various internal and external sources.

Improve platform performance, scalability and reliability.

Implement best practices for data governance and security.

Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Customer teams.

Contribute to architectural decisions in a scale-up environment.

Monitor, troubleshoot and continuously improve the platform.

Write clear documentation and reusable processes.

Required Skills \& Experience

Fluent Dutch

(spoken \& written) and strong English.

3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or similar.

Strong knowledge of

SQL

and relational databases.

Experience with

Python or Scala

for data processing.

Hands-on experience with

cloud data platforms

(Azure, AWS, GCP).

Experience with

ETL/ELT tools

and orchestration (Airflow, DBT, Data Factory, etc).

Understanding of

data warehousing and data modelling

.

Experience with

large-scale or real-time data

.

Comfortable working in an agile, fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have

Experience with

Azure Synapse, Databricks, Snowflake or BigQuery

.

Knowledge of

Kafka, Spark or streaming technologies

.

Exposure to

API integrations or SaaS products

.

Experience in a

start-up/scale-up

environment.

Familiarity with

CI/CD and modern DevOps tooling

.

Soft Skills

Strong communicator with Dutch-speaking stakeholders.

Proactive, ownership-minded, and solution-driven.

Able to work both independently and in a collaborative team.

Passion for modern data technologies and continuous improvement.
