About The Role:
Weâre looking for an experienced Engineering Manager based in Latin America or Canada, with a strong background in mobile development, to lead one of our cross-functional product teams. Youâll work closely with product, design, and engineering leadership to deliver resilient, performant, and maintainable systems that scale.
Youâll foster an environment where engineers thrive, coaching for growth, driving clear execution, and maintaining a focus on velocity and quality. You delegate effectively, build clarity and trust, and guide people through both opportunities and challenges. You act early when something isnât working, balancing compassion with accountability. As a manager, youâll combine strong people leadership with technical oversight, ensuring sound design and architectural decisions, especially across our iOS and Android ecosystems.
What You'll do:
Youâll lead and contribute to a high-performance engineering culture where transparency, continuous feedback, and data-driven insights guide your coaching, process improvements, and experimentation with tools to enable the teamâs success and growth.
Lead a high-performing engineering team focused on shipping impactful features in a startup environment.
Collaborate with product and design on roadmap execution and trade-offs.
Provide technical guidance in discussions around architecture, system design, and mobile development.
Mentor engineers, foster professional growth, and promote psychological safety.
Drive agile practices, remove team pain points, reduce technical debt, and continuously improve delivery efficiency.
Demonstrate a proactive, lean mindset, identifying bottlenecks and improvement areas in both process and technology, using coaching and agile leadership to enable continuous improvement.
What Youâll Bring To The Team:
You bring a self-motivated, highly engaged, resourceful, driven, and passionate leadership style focused on delivering results by empowering others and removing blockers, rather than being the critical path yourself.
5+ years of hands-on mobile development experience (iOS, Android, or both), building and delivering production apps with solid knowledge of mobile architecture, clean code, testing, and refactoring.
3+ years of engineering management experience leading agile software teams.
Proven ability to balance execution speed, quality, and team health.
Excellent communication and decision-making skills, able to mediate and guide technical debates effectively.
Deep experience with agile software development, ideally including Scrum leadership or equivalent experience.
A Bachelorâs or Masterâs degree in Computer Science or a closely related field.
A proven track record of eliminating waste, whether in processes, meetings, or practices, while coaching low performers or making tough decisions to sustain a high-performing team.
You create a motivated, high-trust team environment, balancing compassion with accountability to achieve outstanding results.
Skilled in team development, including goal setting, effective delegation, coaching through challenges, and giving honest, respectful feedback. You act early when things arenât working, supporting individuals and protecting the team.
Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
Nice To Haves:
Experience from multiple roles within an agile team.
Technical leadership experience with coaching individuals and teams in writing testable code and refactoring.
Demonstrates a deep understanding of mobile security best practices, including data encryption, user authentication, device firewalls and security software.
Experience with mobile Continuous Integration, shift-left quality validation, and developer-owned quality practices, with a willingness to mentor and share that knowledge

The team works core hours within East Coast Time (EDT), so the ability to work within these hours is required.
Please note that compensation and benefits may vary by location in accordance with local market standards and legal requirements.
Compensation \& Location Transparency
Onfleet offers competitive compensation that is adjusted based on both location and experience. For candidates located in Canada, the salary range for this role is $120,000 to $160,000 USD annually. Compensation for candidates based in Latin America will be determined based on local market benchmarks and cost of living.
