About the role
As Forestry Manager, you will lead the strategic direction and provide operational oversight across the forestry activities from establishment and silviculture to forest protection and contractor coordination. Reporting to the General Manager – Forests, this role is critical in driving operational excellence, safety, and environmental responsibility while ensuring financial performance and compliance. You will champion innovation and sustainability initiatives that influence the future of forestry and align with Pan Pac’s long-term objectives.
In this role, you will:
Drive strategic, long-term forestry planning and deliver operational excellence to grow high-quality radiata pruned tree crops.
Drive a strong Health, Safety, and Environmental culture through training, engagement, audits, and continuous improvement.
Manage contractor and supplier selection, management, and performance monitoring.
Manage land acquisition and build relationships with iwi, landowners, and government agencies.
Lead innovation in precision forestry, leveraging automation, drones, mechanisation, and digital tools.
Manage budgets, monitor ROI, and optimize resources for sustainable growth.
Build team capability through coaching, mentoring, and performance management.

About you
You’re an experienced senior forestry leader who combines strategic vision with hands-on operational expertise.
You bring:
A collaborative, adaptable leadership style that inspires teams
A results-driven approach with a sharp strategic mindset
A degree in Forestry Science (or related discipline)
Extensive knowledge of forestry management, including silviculture, forest protection, and contractor oversight
Proven ability to lead complex operations and deliver measurable outcomes
Strong financial acumen and confidence in strategic decision-making
Proficiency in forestry technology tools
A genuine commitment to health, safety, and environmental stewardship
Exceptional communication skills and the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships
