Why Work with Us?:

We’re not just another recruiting firm - we focus on placing candidates with exceptional US and EU founders who prioritize the long-term success of their team members.

About the Company:

The partner company is a fast-growing AI-driven consumer platform that makes app creation as simple as asking a question. Instead of generating plain text, the platform delivers working app scaffolds that users can customize instantly. Backed by an experienced ex-Amazon CTO and transitioning from a contractor-led build to an in-house team, the company combines startup speed with technical depth, offering an ambitious and collaborative environment.

Role Overview:

As a Ruby on Rails Engineer (with AWS expertise), you’ll take ownership of a Rails-based application that is currently being developed by a contracting team. Your role is to manage the transition of knowledge, ensure stability, and begin driving feature development and maintenance under the guidance of the CTO. You will be a key contributor in establishing long-term technical ownership of the product, making both architectural decisions and hands-on contributions.

This is a high-impact role suited for a Rails engineer ready to step into more responsibility—bridging the gap between execution and leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

Application Ownership \& Transition

Collaborate closely with the Ukrainian contracting team to absorb knowledge and transition application ownership.

Take full responsibility for the Rails application’s codebase, ensuring maintainability and scalability.

Document technical knowledge and onboard future engineers.

Feature Development \& Maintenance

Design, develop, and deploy new features in Ruby on Rails.

Perform code reviews and establish best practices for clean, reliable code.

Ensure seamless integration between backend and frontend components within the Rails ecosystem.

Infrastructure \& Deployment

Manage and maintain AWS-hosted infrastructure supporting the application.

Troubleshoot and optimize application performance.

Contribute to database design, migrations, and scaling strategies.

Collaboration \& Leadership

Work directly with the CTO to define technical priorities and execute the roadmap.

Communicate effectively across time zones with consultants and internal stakeholders.

Support long-term team growth by mentoring and onboarding future hires.

Requirements:

Must-Have:

5+ years of professional experience with Ruby on Rails (full stack: back-end + Rails front-end).

Strong knowledge of database design and data modeling.

Practical experience with AWS (general infrastructure management).

Ability to navigate and own a codebase in transition, including handoffs from external teams.

Strong communication skills: knows when to ask questions, how to ask them effectively, and can simplify complex technical topics.

Comfortable working remotely across international teams.

Nice-to-Have:

Experience mentoring or leading small teams.

Exposure to startup environments with fast-moving projects.

Familiarity with feature development cycles in consumer-facing applications.

Culture Fit:

The team values respect, accountability, and proactivity. They are looking for someone who can put their head down and deliver, but also speak up when something seems off. Performance and collaboration matter more than background or pedigree.

KPIs \& Success Metrics:

Successful knowledge transfer from the contracting team within the first 60 days.

Ability to independently develop and ship new features within the first 90 days.

Establishment of coding standards and documentation for long-term maintainability.

Smooth AWS-based deployment and application reliability.

Clear communication and reduction of back-and-forth delays across time zones.

Benefits:

Compensation Package:

Competitive Salary: Based on experience and skills

Remote Work: Fully remote—work from anywhere

Generous PTO: Ample paid time off to rest and recharge

Direct Mentorship: Grow through guidance from international industry experts

Learning \& Development: Ongoing access to resources for professional growth
