Overview:
The candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and architectures. This role will involve collaborating with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure that data is accessible, reliable, and usable for analytics and business intelligence purposes.
Key Responsibilities:
Gather and document technical requirements and scope from clients to create a comprehensive Business Requirements Document that accurately reflects their needs and project specifications.
Develop and optimize data pipelines for ingesting, processing, and storing structured and unstructured
Troubleshooting \& Deploying Pipelines via DEVOPS
Design and implement logical and physical data models, ensuring efficiency in storage, retrieval, and analytics.
Define best practices for schema design, indexing, partitioning, and performance tuning.
Conduct regular maintenance of the data platform to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and security.
Implement data quality checks and monitoring to ensure data integrity and reliability and maintain source control and versioning.
Facilitate knowledge transfer sessions, including workshops for non-technical stakeholders, to empower clients with the necessary understanding of the platform and its functionalities.
Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies in data engineering and analytics.
Must-Have Skills \& Experience:
Expert hands-on proficiency in SQL programming for querying, transformation, and optimization.
Significant hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric and Azure Synapse for data warehousing and analytics.
Expert scripting proficiency to automate data transformation and file processing using Python/PowerShell.
Expert knowledge of DevOps practices and tools for data engineering \& deployment of Pipelines
Strong experience with relational databases (e.g., Azure SQL) and NoSQL databases.
Experience in data wrangling and standard data cleansing, in different formats, including CSVs, JSONs and structured tables.
Strong understanding of data modelling concepts and database administration practices.
Good understanding with Microsoft BI toolset, including 0365 tools, Power Platform.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-practice environment.
Proven experience working for the Public Sector, preferably on multi – departmental projects.
Certifications (Desirable):
Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate DP-203
Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Fundamentals DP-900
Microsoft Certified: Fabric
Qualifications:
Master’s or bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology or a related field and/or proven hands-on recent significant experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g, preferred Azure, AWS) for data storage and processing.
