Infrastructure Advocate

Portainer is looking for an Infrastructure Advocate, someone who’s lived the reality of enterprise IT operations and knows exactly what it takes to run critical infrastructure under pressure. This isn’t developer relations, and it’s not traditional marketing. It’s a peer-to-peer advocacy role where your real-world experience gives you the credibility to speak directly to our users.

You’ve managed systems nobody thanked you for, survived endless change control meetings, juggled conflicting priorities, and stretched thin budgets. You’ve been told to “just make it work” while the security team blocked half your toolset. That’s exactly the background we’re looking for, because our users live in that same world.

And here’s the key part: we want you to turn that lived experience into content - especially high-impact videos - that help our community understand the value of Portainer in an Enterprise context. Your job is to show, not tell: break down complex problems, share how you’d solve them, and become a trusted voice for infrastructure professionals everywhere.

Requirements

What you’ll do

Develop messaging that speaks directly to the pain points of infrastructure and operations professionals. Your content will acknowledge their baggage and show that Portainer understands their reality.

Create content in multiple formats (blogs, videos, webinars, product benefit statements) that is easy to digest, to the point, and comforting in its authenticity.

Build and run a demonstration environment that reflects how enterprise IT really looks (imperfect, political, and full of constraints) so that demos feel credible, not idealized.

Engage in social media and community conversations under a Portainer-branded handle, answering questions and leading discussions as a trusted peer.

Coach our product and marketing teams on the realities of customer environments, ensuring our internal messaging and roadmap reflect the world outside of our walls.

Help shape website and product messaging so it speaks directly to our ICP and their day-to-day challenges.

Who you are

You come from customer-land, not vendor-land. You’ve been inside an enterprise IT operations team, ideally as an infrastructure manager, senior systems admin, or platform engineer in a traditional enterprise environment.

You understand the realities of risk-averse, budget-constrained environments where perfection isn’t possible.

You have strong communication skills and enjoy turning hard-earned operational lessons into clear, compelling stories.

You’re comfortable on camera or in front of an audience, and you can produce content that feels authentic, not polished for marketing’s sake.

You care about helping peers make safe, confident technology decisions.

As Infrastructure Advocate, you’ll be the voice of the people we serve; shaping how we talk to them, how we show up in the market, and how we build our product.
