What You'll Do

Cloud Engineer (AWS \& VMware) is responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining highly available and secure cloud infrastructures in Amazon Web Services (AWS) and VMware environments. The role involves managing virtualized systems, automating cloud operations, and supporting hybrid cloud deployments for enterprise and Managed Service Provider (MSP) clients. This position requires strong troubleshooting abilities across compute, storage, and network layers and close collaboration with internal and client technical teams to ensure seamless cloud performance and reliability.

Cloud Infrastructure Design \& Management

Deploy, configure, and manage infrastructure on AWS, including EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, and CloudWatch

Manage VMware virtualized environments (vCenter, ESXi, vMotion, vSAN) ensuring optimal performance and resource utilization

Support hybrid environments by integrating on-premises VMware workloads with AWS

Implement Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) for repeatable and consistent environment provisioning using Terraform (preferred)

System Administration \& Monitoring

Administer and troubleshoot Linux and Windows servers in virtualized and cloud environments

Configure and optimize monitoring solutions (CloudWatch, Grafana, Prometheus, etc.) to track health and performance

Ensure robust backup, patching, and disaster recovery mechanisms across infrastructure components

Security \& Compliance

Implement IAM, role-based access control (RBAC), and encryption policies in AWS and VMware

Maintain compliance with organizational security and governance frameworks

Conduct regular system audits and remediation to ensure best practice configurations

Incident \& Problem Management

Act as a technical escalation point for complex infrastructure incidents

Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures through automation or configuration improvements

Document incident responses and infrastructure changes with precision and clarity

Collaboration \& Client Support

Work with client teams to assess infrastructure needs and propose optimized cloud solutions

Participate in capacity planning, cost management, and cloud governance initiatives

Document infrastructure, architecture, processes, and operational procedures

Requirements

What You Bring

Technical Expertise:

5+ years of hands-on experience in cloud engineering, virtualization, or infrastructure operations within an MSP or enterprise environment.

Strong knowledge of AWS services (EC2, S3, IAM, RDS, CloudFormation, CloudWatch)

Solid experience with VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, and vMotion

Experience with infrastructure monitoring, patching, and backup automation tools

Knowledge of networking fundamentals (DNS, VPN, Load Balancing, Firewalls)

Nice to Have:

Experience with Terraform, Git, Docker, or Kubernetes for automation and containerization

Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and scripting (PowerShell, Bash, or Python)

Certifications (Preferred):

AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate or Professional

VMware Certified Professional (VCP)

ITIL Foundation or equivalent MSP operational framework

Desired Candidate Profile:

Experience in supporting hybrid environments spanning AWS and VMware

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for infrastructure troubleshooting

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work in 24/7 managed services environment with high attention to detail

Passion for automation, cloud innovation, and continuous improvement
